Bob Brock, Director of Aviation for the State of Kansas, will be the featured speaker for the Wichita Aero Club luncheon at noon on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Doubletree Hotel at Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport in the WAC’s first “post pandemic” live event since February of 2020. Mr. Brock will provide an update on the state’s leading role in Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (UAVs or drones) and insights into the newly announced “Supersonic Corridor” which has been established over the Sunflower State.
“Kansas is the nation’s leader in aviation for a reason,” Brock says. “We’ve produced more airplanes than anywhere else on earth and we continue to take the lead in all aspects of aviation, from drones to supersonic business aircraft. We didn’t spend 2020 in a holding pattern when it comes to research and development of either of these important segments. I’m looking forward to helping the Aero Club ‘re-launch’ its live activities.”
Mr. Brock previously spoke to the Wichita Aero Club in March of 2017. This presentation will be the second WAC event of 2021 following an on-line presentation by Richard Aboulafia on March 15. It will also mark the first time since COVID-19 curtailed public gatherings last year that the Aero Club will host a luncheon. “We’re looking forward to returning to the familiar venue of the Doubletree Hotel at Eisenhower Airport after this ‘protracted pandemic pause.’ We will, of course, observe established social distancing and mask guidelines, but we can accommodate up to 160 attendees under those conditions,” Dave Franson, president of the Wichita Aero Club noted. “This will be our first revenue-producing event in a long time, too, and it will allow us to return to a more active role in supporting aviation-related educational endeavors.” Cost of the luncheon will be $35 for members and $40 for non-members. The event is open to the public. Reservations can be made below, right here online. For more information, call the Wichita Aero Club at 316-641-5962.
