Opera Kansas is proud to present Staggerwing, a new chamber opera that dramatizes the historical flight of Louise Thaden and her co-pilot Blanche Noyes, as they compete in the grueling transcontinental 1936 Bendix Trophy Race. In the first year the prestigious aviation competition allowed all-female teams to compete, Olive Ann and Walter Beech sponsored the team as they flew a Beechcraft Staggerwing C-17 beyond the boundaries of aeronautics and into history!
